“You’re so lucky” is a phrase I hear all too often when people see all the trips I take or the things I have done. I wanted to set the bar straight and tell you all how I feel about my life and myself.
I am not lucky. Luck does not get you where I am in life.
I am driven, hard working, motivated and persistent as hell. Those are the things that have allowed me to have the incredible experiences I have had so far in my life.
Luck does not get you a job, luck does not give you motivation to get what you desire done. Luck is chance. With chance there is a possibility of not getting what you want, where as hard work is what you put into it and paves the way for your goals.
I am not a twenty year old who expects her parents to pay for any of what I do. I am not a twenty year old who expects the world to just give me what I want.
I am a twenty year old who has had one or more jobs from the day I turned fourteen and got her working papers. I am a twenty year old who works 60+ hour weeks during breaks when I’m not traveling. I am a twenty year old who goes to school full time for nursing, is an RA, works as a caregiver 36 hours a week during the school year, and still has time for family and friends.
I believe that you cannot live your life waiting around for things to change for your best interest. I am one who will get up and make those changes happen because if you don’t, who will? I’m not one for wishing on stars or taking chances. I am one to make a plan and to start taking actions to achieve my dreams and goals.
None of what I do is luck.
