Trip to Pittsburgh

May 23rd, 2017 – May 25th, 2017

My first trip was a road trip to Pittsburgh with two of my best friends, Antonia and Michelle. We all love Mumford and Son’s and they were performing near Pittsburgh on May 24th so we decided to buy tickets, book a hotel and spend a few days in the city!

We left Victor, NY around 1pm and took our four and a half hour drive towards Pittsburgh (stopped and got Cinnabons at one point). We arrived at our hotel around 5:30pm and got all settled in. We then got ready to head into the city to enjoy some dinner.

While driving into the city we got to go through the Fort Pitt Tunnel, which is featured in my favorite film, The Perk of Being a Wallflower. Exiting the tunnel led to a gorgeous view of the city skyline over the river.

We headed towards the cultural district to grab some dinner at Sienna Mercato in the Emporio restaurant section. This restaurant specializes in all things meatballs so we all enjoyed a bowl of some made-to-order meatballs. We then finished off our dinner with some fried ricotta doughnuts, which were absolutely delicious.

All of us woke up this morning early to grab some breakfast before getting ready for the day and heading back into downtown Pittsburgh. Once again we made the drive through the tunnel leading to the city of Pittsburgh. We drove around for a little while to just see the city and then headed towards the Market Square where we got some lunch at Primanti Brothers. After lunch, we got some lattes and cappuccinos at Nicholas Coffee and some pastries at Prantl’s Bakery. The pastries were a huge hit for Antonia, Michelle and I!

After exploring the city some more we decided to try to go explore the Pittsburgh Botanic Gardens. As we drove there it started to downpour so we decided not to go anymore since we didn’t have rain coats or umbrellas. We decided to go back to the hotel and hang out/recoup.

Then we got ready to go to see a Mumford and Sons concert.

We got up, got some breakfast at our hotel, stopped at Dunkin Donuts for some coffee before hitting the road for the four and a half hour drive back to New York (got cinnabons again at some point on the drive).

Overall, this trip meant so much to me. To explore a new city, and see the band that has meant so much to me with Antonia and Michelle (two people who have always been by my side) was so blissful to say the least. We all decided we will all go again to a Mumford and Sons concert when then tour again because we all had an incredible time at their concert.
