#86: Stand under the Hollywood Sign

June 6th, 2017

During my latest trip to Los Angeles with one of my friends, Sydney, we got the chance to hike up to the Hollywood Sign. We took an Uber to where the Hollywood Sign hike starts and the first thing we saw on the trail was a sign that really reassured us about the hike we were about to go on…

We started the hike and it took us about 25 minutes to get our very first peek at the Hollywood Sign.

After another 10/15 minutes up the trail we got to see our next closer view of the Hollywood Sign and stopped to take some photos.

Once we were about an hour into the hike we got a way better view of the sign and got some more photos.

Our original plan was to hike all the way up to the top right near the sign to get some photos of the city from the hill. However, when we got to the path that led up to the Hollywood Sign there was a sign that said “No Trespassing, violators are subject to arrest and fines”. Sydney and I both agreed we didn’t want to get arrested just for wanting to get a photo. So what we did was walk just a little bit past the “No Trespassing” sign to get some closer photos of the sign and then got out of there. However, I still got to cross standing under the Hollywood Sign off my list which made me happy!

Seeing the Hollywood Sign was really amazing, even seeing it for the first time from such a distance away. It is one of those well known landmarks of the United States and I’m really glad I got to take this trip to go explore and see more of my own country. I would highly recommend going to the Hollywood sign to everyone, especially people who enjoy hiking and being outside. It was far enough away from the city to not feel like you were in Los Angeles and got to see some nature.
